Securing Foreign Direct Investment via the Foreign Trade Zone Program
The Kennebec Regional Development Authority was the first contributor to the CMGC’s project of extending the Foreign Trade Zone (186) from a fixed site to a regional design. Soon any firm importing and/or exporting in the Kennebec Valley Watershed will be able to avail themselves of FTZ benefits – as the zone will be delivered to their facility. The cost savings for firms will be substantial. With the program design being fashioned by the FTZ Administrator, participating firms will also be able to substantially improve their logistics capabilities. This financial contribution by KRDA reinforces the influence it provides to the business of creating investment and full employment and to perfect any development outcome in Central Maine.
